Grants up to $2 million under the Murray-Darling Healthy Rivers Program

The Australian Government are offering grants from $100,000 and up to $2 million to successful applicants to support community-led, on-the-ground projects to improve the health and ecological condition of rivers and wetlands in the Murray-Darling Basin while supporting economic development and jobs.

The intended outcomes of this program include:

  • improved health and ecological condition of rivers and wetlands in the Murray-Darling basin

  • improved community involvement in restoring the environmental health of the Murray-Darling basin

  • increased economic activity and employment in the Basin communities as a direct result of grant funding

Eligible activities include:

  • cover nation and protection of biodiversity

  • protection of rivers or wetlands as listed on the Department’s website

  • protection of listed migratory species and their habitats as listed on the Department’s website

  • sustainable management or conservation and enhancement of water resources

  • combating desertification and mitigating the effects drought on natural systems

Applications close at 9pm (AEDT) on 6th October, 2021.
