Carbon Innovation Grants up to $1.5 million

The West Australian Carbon Innovation Grants Program (CIGP) aims to help build the capacity of heavy industry sectors to transition to net zero emissions by 2050 by supporting projects which:

  • Reduce carbon emissions from heavy industry processes in WA.

  • Support the development of innovative technologies for carbon abatement and sequestration.

  • Maximise the co-benefits for the environment and the WA economy.

  • Increase the supply of carbon credits to enable heavy industry to offset residual emissions (optional).

The program has two funding streams including:

Feasibility Studies: Between $50,000 and $500,000 in grants on a 50:50 co-contribution basis to support feasibility studies supporting technologies and methods which helps to avoid, reduce or offset carbon emissions from heavy industry processes. Projects will be supported to progress from concept to real-world trials. Feasibility studies must be completed within two years of signing funding agreements.

Pilot Projects and Capital Works: Grants between $100,000 and $1.5 million so support up to 25% of total eligible project costs for projects which deliver ‘real world’ testing of innovative technologies and methods to avoid, reduce or offset carbon emissions from heavy industry processes. The program will focus on supporting innovative technologies for carbon abatement and sequestration for projects from pilot stage through to full scale deployment. Projects must be completed within three years.

Eligible applicants must:
