$9.7 million allocated to support recycling of hazardous waste

Sustainability Victoria is offering grants to eligible businesses and local government on a co-contribution basis and with no funding cap.

The Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund - Hazardous Waste Stream (Round 2) is aiming to support projects located in Victoria which:

  • increase the recovery and local reprocessing of hazardous waste

  • increase the use and quality of recycled materials for remanufacturing and to make new products

  • increase economic development opportunities such as jobs, economic performance and growth of precincts

Successful projects are expected to achieve at least one of the following outcomes:

  1. Divert waste from Category B landfill disposal

  2. Increase diversion fo low-level contaminated soils from landfill disposal

  3. Increase recovery of hazardous wastes for reuse, recycling or energy recovery

  4. Improve management of hazardous wastes for reuse, recycling or energy recovery

Funding may be provided for:

  • Purchase, installation and commissioning of equipment

  • Pre-construction activities such as site clearing, earthworks, or site accessibility works associated with the installation of the new equipment

  • Modification of buildings to house the new equipment
