$15 million Carbon Farming and Land Restoration fund
The West Australian government has established a $15 million Carbon Farming and Land Restoration program to help capture the carbon sequestration potential in WA agriculture and to contribute to the growth of the WA carbon farming market.
The funds will be distributed across two streams including:
ACCU Plus offers up-front funding for new Emissions Reduction Fund carbon farming projects that deliver one or more priority co-benefits in return for an agreed number of Australian Carbon Credit units.
Future Carbon provides grants to establish innovative carbon sequestration pilot project, activities and trials to support the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices. Projects must be supported by universities or similar institutions that have the potential to develop new or amended ERF carbon sequestration methods and that enhance the understanding of farming activities that sequester carbon.
Expressions of Interest are open to commercial farm property owners, NFP entities undertaking a project under commercial arrangements with the owner of a farm property and carbon farming developers undertaking a project under commercial arrangements with the owners of a farm property or properties.
Expressions of Interest can be submitted by 12pm, Friday 20 August 2021.
