Grants up to $1million to support global research collaborations

The Australian Government are invited Expressions of Interest to apply for up to $1 million in grant funding to support science and technology collaborations with priority partner countries across the Asia Pacific region, including Brazil.

Grants from $100,000 and up to $1 million are available on a competitive basis to eligible Australian organisations proposing a strategic international research collaboration project which is focussed on one of five priority themes, and involves at least one priority partner country.

Applicants must demonstrate suitable and proportionate co-contributions from partners which can be either direct cash funding and/or in-kind contributions and the grant funding must be used primarily to benefit the Australian partners activities with potential flow-on benefits to the international partners.

Successful EOI applicants will be invited to submit a full application.

Priority themes include:

  • Advanced Manufacturing

  • Quantum Computing

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • Hydrogen Production

  • RNA (including mRNA) vaccines and therapies

Priority countries include:

  • Brazil

  • Indonesia

  • Japan

  • Republic of Korea

  • Malaysia

  • New Zealand

  • Singapore

  • Thailand

  • Vietnam

Eligibility:

Eligible applicants must be a single entity acting as lead organisation on behalf of the bi-lateral or multi-lateral partenrs who have agreed to collaborate on the project.

The eligible lead organisations must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be one of the following entity types:

  • An Australian incorporated company

  • An incorproated Not-for-Profit organisation

  • A Publicly Funded Research Organisation (PFRO) including higher education providers, corproate Commonwealth entities, and State and Territory business enterprises, departments or agencies that undertake publicly funded research

  • A Cooperative Research Centre (CRC)

  • An incorporated truste on behalf of a trust

  • An Australian State, Territory or Local Government agency or body
