E-waste Infrastructure Grants up to $2 million

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is offering up to $2 million in competitive grant funding to support the ban on e-waste disposal to landfill.

E-waste categories, for the purpose of this grant, includes:

  • Screens, IT and telecommunications

  • Lighting and lamps (including light bulbs)

  • Large household equipment

  • Batteries, including car batteries

  • Temperature exchange equipment

  • Medical devices

  • Photovoltaics

Projects must be located in WA and applicants can apply under one, or both, of two funding streams:

Stream 1: E-waste collection and storage and/or reuse grants (up to $250,000) will support:

  • Collection and storage projects including fixed or semi-permanent e-waste infrastructure

  • Equipment that assist with the reuse of e-waste

Stream 2: E-waste reprocessing infrastructure grants (up to $2 million) will support:

  • Projects that increase capacity and capability in the Sate’s e-waste management network and include equipment purchase & installation, and new or upgraded infrastructure for e-waste reprocessing and recycling.

Applicant Eligibility: Eligible applicants must

  • Be from a:

    • business

    • local government

    • regional council

    • registered charity / not-for-profit

  • Have a current ABN and/or ACN

  • Have been operating for at least 12 months

  • Have satisfactory environmental, safety and financial compliance
