What SME’s can do to engage with Defence and win work!
The Australian Government have collaborated with the Australian defence industry to develop a ‘go to’ guide for small businesses on improving their security practices to help them secure work with the Department of Defence and related industries.
With around 40% of businesses applying for Defence work demonstrating insufficient cyber security measures to meet Defence standards, the Working Securely with Defence Guide was developed to help industry and SME’s in particularly to become ‘Defence-read’, whilst also supporting the Government’s investment in Defence capability.
The Guide will help SME’s interested in working with Defence and bidding for projects, to work towards meeting the requirements for membership of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP), of which currently there are around 230 companies participating.
The DISP supports Australian businesses to understand and meet their security obligations when engaging in Defence projects, contracts and tenders. DIPS membership is open to any Australian business seeking to become part of the Defence industry supply chain, and in some cases, depending on the type of work you undertake of the contractual obligations, membership of DISP maybe mandatory.
