Up to $7.5 million in grant funding for regional airports and aerodromes
Grant funding between $20,000 and $7.5 million is available to eligible owners and operators of regional airports / aerodromes to undertake essential works to improve aviation safety, access and transition to net zero emissions for regional communities.
The Regional Airports Program is a competitive grants program, which offers funding to successful applicants on a minimum 50:50 matching funding basis. For some projects that include contributions from third parties including State, Territory or local governments, or other non-government funding, the grant amount may be reduced to a third of eligible project costs.
Eligible Entities include:
Australian Incorporated Entity
Registered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations
Incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust
Australian local government agency or body
Australian state / territory government agency or body
Corporate Commonwealth Entity
Eligible projects may include partnerships with one or more organisations that also meet the eligilbity criteria, with one organisation being the lead applicant.
Eligible Projects may include:
Works to improve all weather capability of the aerodrome and aircraft safety e.g. sealing / re-sealing and/or re-sheeting aircraft pavements, extending / strengthening a runway, taxiway, parking bays and/or related areas, repair, restoration adn/or reconstruction of the airstrip, taxiway and/or apron, drainage works, airside ambulance and passenger shelters.
Works to enhance aerodrome safety for aircraft operations e.g. animal fencing, navigational aids and safety equipment, reduction of safety hazards at the aerodrome, provision of safely related operational and/or training manuals and training for key operational personnel.
Works to improve / enable night time operations e.g. runway and taxiway lighting, provision of power for lighting, Pilot Activated Lighting Control systems.
Works to support air services transition to net zero e.g. works to support use of sustainable aviation fuel, electric chargers, hydrogen fuel storage and refuelling.
