Up to $40 million for solar PV Research and Development

The Australian Government is offering grant funding through the Ultra Low Cost Solar PV Research and Development program.

Applicants may apply for up to $15 million for high value R&D projects which will accelerate cost reductions and help deliver lower emissions, lower energy costs and more jobs.

Eligible applicants include research groups and commercial organisations.

Program outcomes include:

  • Research and development of a range of high quality and innovative ultra low cost solar technologies that enhance Australia’s research position and/or address conditions specific to Australia

  • Progress core research into early stage commercialisation activities

  • increase skills, c capacity and knowledge relevant to ultra low cost solar technologies

  • Improve technology readiness and commercial readiness of ultra low cost solar technologies

Applicants must select one of the two funding streams as their focus, which include:

  1. Cells and modules: improvements in the efficiency of cells and modules which must be cost competitive, offer longevity and consider sustainability issues when manufactured and deployed at scale;

  2. Balance of system costs and operations and maintenance

ARENA are accepting EOI’s from 7th February 2022 until 11 April 2022.

Shortlisted EOI applicants will be invited to progress to the full application stage.
