Up to $1 million grant funding for Australia - India research projects

Government grants of between $500,000 and $1 million for up to 100% of eligible project costs are available to Australian organisations conducting a research project with an Indian partner in a priority area. The Indian partner must also be applying for the corresponding grant in India.

Priority Areas for the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund include:

Indo-Australian Science and technology Fund (administered by the Department of Science and Technology in India):

  • Artificial Intelligence and machine learning

  • New and reenable energy technologies

  • Urban mining and electronic waste recycling

Into-Australian Biotechnology Fund (administered by the Department of Biotechnology in India):

  • Antimicrobial resistance

  • RNA vaccines and therapies

Lead organisations can submit up to two applications and joint applications involving more than one Australian partner are acceptable.

Eligible entities include:

  • Australian incorporated company

  • Incorporated NFP organisation

  • Publicly Funded Research Organisations (PFRO)

  • Incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust

  • Australian State/Territory Government agency or body

  • An entity, incorporated in Australia
