Proposed $1BN PV manufacturing grant program inviting stakeholder feedback

In March 2024 the Australian Government announced up to $1 billion in funding will be allocated to the Solar Sunshot program to support building Australia’s solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing capabilities.

Delivered by ARENA, the Solar Sunshot program will support innovative manufacturing facilities in Australia across the solar PV supply chain, including poly-silicon production, production of ingots, wafers, solar PV cells, and solar module assembly.

Complementary aspects of the solar PV supply chain such as solar glass, module frames, deployment technology and other innovation or manufacturing elements required may also be supported.

The program is currently seeking stakeholder feedback through an open Consultation process which is open unto 31 May 2024.

It is expected that Round 1 of the Solar Sunshot program will open for application in August 2024.
