Grant funding up to $5 million for collaborative innovative medical research projects
The Medical Research Future Fund - Rapid Applied Research Translation grant will invest in research projects that encourage academic research and health service providers to collaborate to improve health care delivery, services and systems sustainability.
Eligible applicants must have an ABN and incorporated in Australia, and will be one of the following entity types:
A University
A Medical Research institute
A Corporation, including businesses and not-for-profits
A Corporate Commonwealth entitiy
Three streams of funding are available:
Streams 1 and 2 (Accelerator): Rapid translation of research evidence into clinical practice - up to $500,000 in grant funding. Accelerator projects will:
Use existing knowledge to support and accelerate the translation of research findings into improved health care and health interventions that have the potential for broader applicability
Address a clearly defined gap in the implementation of best practice health care and health interventions to improve health outcomes
Involve all stakeholders relevant to the research and its translation in its conceptualisation, design and implementation, including health care consumers and providers
** Stream 2 funding is available to eligible organisations based in rural areas (an MM2-7 location) and the Chief Investigator A and more than 50% of all Chief Investigators must be primarily resident in an MMW-7 location..
Stream 3 (Targeted Call for Research): Adoption of evidence-based practice into health care - up to $5 million in grant funding. Stream 3 aims to support a medical research project that:
Prospectively evaluates all projects funded through the 2022 Rapid Applied Research Translation grant as well as grants awarded through the previous 2020 Rapid Applied Research Translation grant opportunity
Generates knowledge that improves understanding of the factors that promote the adoption, impact and sustainability of evidence-based practice in health care.
Joint applications are encouraged provided the lead organisations is the main driver of the project and is eligible to apply.
