Grant funding to help solve government regulatory technology challenges.

The Business Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII) Regulatory Technology Funding Round is seeking solutions in the form of digital technologies to streamline or enhance compliance for business or individuals, and administration for government.

The BRII Regulatory Technology round has $2 million available, with grants from $50,000 to $100,000 being offered for regulatory technology feasibility studies over a 3 month period.

If the feasibility study is successful, applicants may receive up to an additional $1 million to develop a proof of concept. An estimated $8 million is available for successful PoC grants.

The Government are seeking solutions for four challenges including:

  1. Using technology to identify and assess potential poor disclosure listed companies (ASIC)

  2. Using technology for remove and automated monitoring of export livestock health and welfare (DAWE)

  3. Using technology for a streamlined path to marine autonomous systems (AIMS)

  4. using technology for real-time and accurate asbestos testing (ASEA)

Eligible applicants:

  • must have an ABN

  • must be an Australian incorporated entity, or

  • an individual or partnerships which agrees to form a company incorporated into Australia in order to enter into a grant agreement

  • must have a combined annual turnover of less than $20 million for each of the past 3 financial years

  • must provide all mandatory attachments

Applications close at 5PM (AEST) on 3rd June 2021
