Government grants up to $15 million for regional community infrastructure projects

The Growing Regions Program (Round 1) will offer successful, eligible applicants grant funding between $500,000 and $15 million on a cash co-contribution basis.

Projects are expected to deliver community and economic benefits through the investment in community-focussed infrastructure aimed at revitalising regions and enhancing amenity and liveability throughout regional Australia.

Entities eligible to apply include:

  • Incorporated not-for-profit organisations

  • First Nations Community Controlled Organisations

  • Local government agencies / bodies in regional areas

Eligible applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest. Successful EOI applicants will be invited to submit a full stage 2 application.

The project objectives are:

  • Construction or upgrade of community infrastructure that fills an identified gap or need for community infrastructure.

  • Contributing to achieving a wide range of community socio-economic outcomes.

  • Project is strategically aligned with regional priorities.

The intended program outcomes are:

  • Delivery of community-focussed infrastructure which contributes to local and reigonal priorities.

  • Provision of infrastructure which benefits the community by improving equity and supporting diverse social inclusion.

  • To contribute to the achievement of broader government priorities such as net zero emissions, gender equity, and/or First Nations priorities.

  • Growing local economies and enhancing amenity and liveability in the regions.

Grant funding will cover costs directly incurred in relation to the proposed project including:

  • Materials for construction.

  • Lease of plant and equipment.

  • Contract expenditure.

  • External labour hire and consulting.

Expressions of Interest must be submitted by 5:00pm (AEST) on Tuesday 1 August, 2023.
