Government Grant’s up to $20 million for food and beverage manufacturers

The Australian Government’s Modern Manufacturing Grant Scheme is offering grant funding from $1 million to $20 million for eligible Australian businesses under two different funding streams.

Applications for funding focussed on food and beverage processing includes support for a range of eligible activities across the two funding streams.

The Manufacturing Integration Stream offers grants from $1 million up to $20 million on a 50% co-contribution basis to support projects that integrate Australian businesses and their products and services into domestic and international value chains, propelling goods and services into new markets. The program aims to support Australian F&B businesses to increase scale, supply capacity and the ability to innovate, including the adoption of new technologies to support entry into new markets with innovative solutions.

The Manufacturing Translation Stream also offers grants from $1 million up to $20 million on a 50% co-contribution basis, to support projects that translate high quality research into commercial outcomes and support F&B businesses to scale up and be more competitive and resilient. Funding will support successful applicants to adopt new technologies and improve their manufacturing processes to boost productivity and competitiveness.

The program has identified opportunity to bring food and beverage manufacturers together to:

  • manage the development of new products for emerging markets

  • translate research into commercial outcomes

  • manufacture locally and export more high value products to overseas markets

Eligible activities include:

  • investment in strategic projects that increase commercialisation, and embrace technology, innovation and automation

  • grow production and manufacturing activities

  • bring commercial outcomes to new and existing markets, value chains and customers

Eligible applicants must:

  • Have an ABN, be non-tax-exempt and be registered for GST

  • Be an Australian incorporated entity including start-ups, and trading corporation where your trading activities form the majority of your overall activities

  • Be able to demonstrate the project aligns with the Medical Products National Manufacturing Priority

  • Have a minimum of $2 million in total eligible project expenditure

  • Be able to provide evidence that the project is support by your Board or CEO

  • Be able to provide evidence that you can meet the co-contribution and other costs not covered by the grant funding

Applications close at 5pm (AEST) on 27 April 2021
