Government grants for waste recycling and processing infrastructure

The West Australian government are offering government grants up to $250,000 to support investment in recycling and processing infrastructure with the aim of avoiding waste, recovering more value and resources from solid waste, and protecting the environment.

Eligible organisations include:

  • Businesses

  • Incorporated community groups

  • Local government

  • Regional councils

  • Not-for-profits including charitable recycling organisations

Infrastructure refers to:

  • Facilities and equipment to increase / improve sorting and decontamination of recovered materials.

  • Facilities and equipment to enable reprocessing of materials to a higher quality and value

  • Facilities and equipment for the remanufacturing of recovered materials into new products

Preference will be given to recovery of higher value priority waste materials including:

High priority materials include:

  • Organics: food and garden organics

  • Textiles: clothing and other fabric-based materials

Medium priority materials include:

  • Glass: packaging and containers

  • Metals: steel, non-ferrous metals, packaging and containers

  • Construction and demolition waste

  • Non-domestic hazardous waste
