Funding support for development of infrastructure projects in Northern Australia
The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) provides concessional loans for the development and acceleration of infrastructure projects in northern Australia and the Australian Indian Ocean Territories.
The NAIF supports projects that promote economic growth, benefit the public / community, and advance sustainable Indigenous outcomes.
The NAIF supports projects in the following sectors:
Agriculture and Water: Projects that enhance the regions agriculture productivity, water management, and sustainability including the creation of irrigation infrastructure, water storage facilities, and agricultural processing plants.
Energy: Including renewables generation, transmission and storage which contribute to and align with the Australian Net Zero Strategy.
Financing Partnerships: Designed to facilitate collaboration with private-sector entities, bringing together expertise, resources and funding to progress infrastructure projects.
Resources: Projects may relate to fertilisers, critical minerals and rare earths, gold, copper, urea, and other valuable commodities.
Social Infrastructure: Projects that help improve the overall quality of life in Northern Austrlaia such as hose that enhance education, healthcare and community facilities.
Transport and Logistics: Projects that enhance connectivity and optimise transportation networks, including improved port and airport infrastructure.
