Defence Industry Grant Funding up to $1 million.

The Defence Industry Development Grant Program (DIDG) offers funding from $10,000 up to $1 million, on a 50:50 co-contribution basis, to help develop and build the industrial base Australia needs to achieve Defence outcomes in areas of strategic priority.

The Defence Industry Development Strategy (click here) provides links to each of the Strategic Defence Industry Priorities.

The funding is being delivered across four specific funding streams.

  1. Sovereign Industrial Priorities Stream: Grants between $50,000 and $1 million to support eligible applicants to purchase manufacturing plant and equipment which is used directly to deliver and/or develop programs in Defence priority areas.

  2. Skilling Stream: Grants between $5,000 and $250,000 to support eligible businesses to deliver skilling and training programs to develop priority trade, technical and professional skillsets, contributing to a workforce which will support Defence requirements in priority areas.

  3. Exports Stream: Grants between $15,000 and $250,000 to support eligible applicants to purchase manufacturing plant and equipment, or achieve International certifications or accreditations to support them to develop and/or deliver defence export opportunities in priority areas.

  4. Security Stream: Grants between $10,000 and $100,000 to support eligible businesses to uplift and maintain security controls and accreditations which are aligned to the Defence Security Protection Framework in priority areas.

Eligible applicants include small to medium enterprises (SMEs) located in Australia, with Defence Industry Associations eligible to apply for the Skilling Stream of funding.

Applications can be submitted at any time, with regular batch cycles of assessment.

More information on each of the funding streams, including program guidelines and sample funding application forms, and closing dates for batch assessment cycles are published here.
