Australian 5G Innovation Funding - up to $2 million

The Australian Government are offering grants between $100,000 and up to $2 million (up to 100% of eligible project expenditure) to support projects which trial and test 5G applications that demonstrate 5G capability and benefits across a range of industry sectors and locations.

Eligible applicants will involve a partnership between at least two eligible entities, which may include incorporated companies, trustee’s, not-for-profit organisations, Local Government and State/Territory Government agencies.

The Australian 5G Initiative aimed at:

  • supporting emerging commercial use uses of 5G in key industry sectors

  • demonstration of the value of 5G to Australian businesses

  • supporting private sector investment in 5G trials

The intended outcomes include:

  • boosting productivity and creating jobs with 5G technology

  • accelerating the potential 5G economic and productivity benefits to the Australian economy

  • encouraging more rapid deployment of 5G in Australia

Eligible expenditure includes:

  • purchase and installation fo equipment directly used in the project

  • set-up and administration costs connected with the project

  • limited R&D costs if 5G applications are pre-commercial and is linked directly to achieving commercial 5G applications

Applications must be submitted by 5pm (AEDT) on 31 March 2021.
