4.2 million readers of China's tourism trade publication Travel Weekly have voted Western Australia as Best New Destination of the Year - announced at the 2011 China Travel & Meeting Industry Awards in Beijing last week.

This is great news for WA tourism as China Southern Airlines direct flights between Perth and China are due to start in November.

Now is the perfect time for small tourism businesses to have a look at themselves and see how they could attract more visitors and improve their business. The Federal Government provides many practical tools to support tourism and small businesses with general business advice and support, marketing, developing online capability and other areas.

For more information on the tools and assistance available, check out the 'Supporting Small Tourism Businesses' fact sheet.

Tourism e-kit is another great tool providing free online series of simple and easy-to-use tutorials that guide you through a number of online marketing concepts ranging from website design to the use of online booking systems. The Tourism e-kit is available for download from the Tourism WA website.
